THE 28TH ACC LUNCHEON CRUISE

October 2, 2021 Dear ACC Supporter,

Welcome aboard the Anacostia Coordinating Council's 28th luncheon cruise. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person events have been few and we have been communicating with one another in a virtual environment. So, today is is a community reunion cruise for most of us. We deeply appreciate our sponsors and table hosts for their support.

When the pandemic began, ACC swung into action by having Dr. Reed Tuckson of the Black Coalition

Against COVID-19 give updates at our monthly meetings and we were on the front lines promoting and providing testing. Last May ACC was one of the seven organizations chosen by Mayor Bowser to do door- to-door vaccination outreach in neighborhoods with low participation. Our COVID-19 Community Corp Ambassadors approached their work with vision and vigor. Although funding for that outreach ended two days ago, ACC's commitment to fighting and defeating COVID-19 will continue. In addition to combating the pandemic, ACC has been active in the efforts to battle the epidemics of opioid misuse and gun violence in our city.

ACC is active in the effort to achieve DC statehood, which is a civil rights and social justice issue. Our East of the River Youth Voices for Statehood project involved middle and high school students in a poetry and essay competition. The winners were showcased at a concert last August that was lived streamed to tens of thousands of viewers.

The community work that ACC does is made possible by the collaborations with our numerous community partners. But most importantly, we are able to continue because of the support of the over 400 guests on this boat today. If you
